HAPPY CHRISTMAS ... EXCEPT YOU GREEDY MPs

Goodwill to all men on Christmas Eve – except those greedy bastard MPs who look set to award themselves a 10 per cent pay rise after restricting nurses and policemen to a measly 1.9 per cent.

One of the ringleaders is a piggy-eyed Tory called Sir John Butterfill, undoubtedly of the old school right wing, who has apparently calculated that MPs’ pay – already more than £60,000 a year, plus huge expenses – would be £5,500 a year higher if it had kept pace with inflation.

Pardon me?! How many other groups have had to accept below-inflation rises not just this year but every year?

If the Christmas Fairy would allow me just one JOCKEY SHORT I could implement immediately it would be this – that MPs’ pay is set by the people.

A representative committee would be fine. A few good people, like nurses, coppers, maybe the odd blogger …
