Did you see the latest example of flaming political correctness? Three firemen at Fleetwood, Lancashire, have been sacked after a station cook’s identity badge was changed to read cock.
A childish prank perhaps, but a sacking offence?
I wanted to check out Lancashire Fire Service’s statement about it, so I Googled ‘firemen sacked’ – and guess what, I found out fire services all over the country have been sacking firefighters for pranks and other minor misdemeanours.
Men and women who put their lives on the line for us, who understandably like to let off steam now and again, have been sacked over a bricked-up locker, a YouTube striptease, and for leaving some students out in the cold after a fire (aah, poor diddums), and other such life-and-death moments. When a good ticking-off would do.
I have every respect for our firefighters. I have one thing to say to their superiors:
