PARKING PAY-OFF IS JUST THE TICKET

I’m under new orders from Mrs N – this blog mustn’t become just a catalogue of my moans and whinges. As if!

So I am pleased to report a happy event.

My mate Terry has this thing about motorists parking on double yellow lines and leaving their hazard lights flashing while they disappear into a shop or office. ‘As if that makes it legal or something!’ he is inclined to add with a touch of irascibility.

I'm beginning to see what he means. I spotted three yesterday – and two were a bloody menace, causing tailbacks, much frustration, and high blood pressure. Road rage and even fisticuffs couldn’t have been far away.

The second driver was just coming out of a shop, after God knows how many minutes of thoughtlessness, when a police car pulled across and parked in front of him. One constable sorted out the traffic while the other started to write on what had to be a pad of fixed-penalty notices.

Now that’s what I call a happy ending.
