Just a quickie – work calls – but a serious quickie.
All the recent murders, culminating in the conviction of Steve Wright, the Ipswich serial killer, have not surprisingly renewed calls to bring back the death penalty.
It is easy to be swayed, but I remain firm. Human life is sacrosanct; killing is evil and barbaric. If the State kills, it makes the State just as bad as the murderer. Worse, the State is killing in everybody’s name – and I do not want anyone killing in my name.
We are not barbarians. If other countries wish to be barbarians, that is up to them.
There – did it without making a single joke about wittering DJs!
That’s serious.
