GREAT BRITISH FOOTIE – SHAME ABOUT THE IDIOTS

Oh, the relief that we won’t have to watch the European Champions League final with that excruciating dread that the foreigners will sneak a last-minute winner. Or that it will go to penalties and we’ll come up with our usual Monty Python Kick-It-Like-Your-Granny-Would sketch ... despite English teams now being full of foreigners who are supposed to know how to take penalties.

Oh, the relief that Manchester United fans will be kicking lumps out of Chelsea supporters and not poor innocent Muscovites.

Oh, the relief that there will be no disrespectful booing of the foreigners’ national anthem.

Oh, the relief that British clubs (let’s not forget Celtic and Rangers) are again beginning to dominate European competitions, as is our rightful position.

Oh, the sheer stupidity that the ruling bodies of our football are unable to see that we must have a limit on the number of foreign players in each Premiership team if England (sorry, Scotland, but I can’t stretch it that far) are ever to mount a serious challenge again on the World Cup. The one that really matters.

If you’re not a sports fan, you won’t have a clue what I’m talking about.

Never mind – something more trivial tomorrow.
